The Life and Ideas of James Hillman Vol 11 with Dick Russell

Hello everyone, in this episode of the podcast I am speaking with author Dick Russell on the recently released The Life and Ideas of James Hillman Vol 11. Amongst other things we talk about how he got involved in this mammoth project. How he discovered Jung and then met Hillman. We explore some of his thoughts about the significant periods in Hillman’s life. Zurich, the beginnings of Spring Publications, Pat Berry, Rafael Lopez-Pedraza and others, returning to the US and The Terry Lectures, Dallas, and his time with Robert Bly and The Mythopoetic Men’s Movement and Malidoma Somé.

Dick Russell has published fifteen books on subjects ranging from natural history to the assassination of President Kennedy. The second volume of Russell’s monumental biography, The Life and Ideas of James Hillman - ‘Revisioning Psychology’ was released on May 30, 2023. The first volume, “The Making of a Psychologist,” was published in 2013 and chronicled the early years of the pioneering founder of archetypal psychology. His latest book is The Real RFK Jr: Trials of a Truth Warrior, an intimate biography of the son of Robert Kennedy and who is running for president in the 2024 election. Russell has also co-authored five books with former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura, three of which became New York Times Best-Sellers.
