The Finnish Art of Sisu with Elisabet Lahti PhD

Hello everyone in this episode of the podcast I am speaking with Elisabet Lahti Ph.D about the ancient Finnish construct of sisu and courage in the face of adversity. Amongst other things we talk about the Gita and Arjuna on the battlefield, entering into the field of life, the warrior archetype, courage, discipline, inner power and resource, the shadow side of sisu(or the warrior). Taoism, yin and yang, gentle power, her research. Jonah swallowed into the belly of the whale, Persephone abducted into the underworld, innocence, and some of Elizabet’s experience in her run and bicycle ride across New Zealand.

Elisabet Lahti is an international presenter on topics related to the applied psychology of inner strength, conscious leadership, and high performance. In her PhD she laid a foundation for the research on the ancient Finnish construct of sisu, which denotes courage and determination in the face of extreme adversity and the ability to unlock hidden inner strength. In 2018, she completed a 2400 km run and bicycle ultra endurance feat across the length of New Zealand for her research on sisu. Elisabet's work been featured at The New Yorker, CNBC, Business Insider, BBC, and Forbes among others.
