Myth with Dr Brigid Burke
Hi everyone
Welcome to our podcast with Brigid Burke.
Dr Brigid Burke has been teaching religion, mythology, and related subjects since 2008. She has a Master’s degree in Religion and Psychology, and an interdisciplinary doctorate in Literary Studies, with a dissertation focused on ancient Near East afterlife beliefs, and how changes in those beliefs negatively impact our view of the feminine, and providing evidence for this via depth psychology. She started the Chthonia podcast in 2019, focusing on what she calls the “dark” Feminine, and much of this is based on her doctoral research, published in the 2019 book “Death and the Maiden: the Curious Relationship Between the Fear of the Feminine and the Fear of Death”. As of 2021 she works on Chthonia material full time, including the podcast and a new school called Scholars of the Borderland. She has written one short story collection, one novella, and one novel; her current writing project is for Theion Publishing, an academic and practical work on the Irish war goddess Morrigan entitled “Phantom Queen.” She has a home in New Jersey, USA, but is currently living in Devon, England.
