Men, Power and Myths with Allan Guggenbuhl

In this episode of the podcast I am speaking with Allan Guggenbuhl PhD about his book ‘Men, Power and Myths: The Quest for Male Identity’. Amongst other things we talk about Hillman’s friendship with his Father, his time in Mexico, and how his book grew out of his work with boys, girls, adolescents and schools. The difference between boys and girls. How boys respond to myth. And the archetypal approach within the zeitgeist of the mainstream.

Allan Guggenbühl is the son of Swiss Psychiatrist and Jungian Analyst Adolf Guggenbühl Craig and Scottish Artist and Folk Singer Anne Craig. After a teaching spell in Zürich, and studies in classical guitar with Manual Lopez Ramos in Mexico City, he studied Psychology and Education at the University of Zürich where he gained his Ph.D. Then becoming Professor at the University of Education of the State of Zürich (1997–2017). Since 1997 Director of the Institute for Conflict Management and Mythodrama in Zürich (www.ikm.ch). Allan has a Private Practice in Zürich and is the author of several books and is well known as a specialist in conflict management and youth issues.
